This week I learned a very important lesson that I would like to share. Many times as humans we are very self-centered and do not realize what other people are doing to show love to us. We only recognize the sacrifices we ourselves are making and fail to recognize what other are sacrificing for us.
Relationships take a lot of love, sacrifice, communication, and compromise. They are not always
easy. In fact, they are oftentimes extremely difficult. But when we rely on God and seek Him first, He will bring us through anything.
This week, my fiance, David and I had plans to see each other one evening. I had been working all day long, but David's dad was in town, so we wanted to get together so we could all spend some time together. To make a long story short, David's family took a wrong turn which caused them to be two and a half hours late to meeting up with me. I had had a long and hard day at work. I was exhausted and did not want to wait around. I did not know what to do.
I began to pray and I turned on the radio. The song "Fierce" by Jesus Culture was playing. The lyrics were, "Like a hurricane/ that I can't escape/ tearing through the atmosphere/ your love is fierce". I started to think about the fierce, undying, unwavering, unconditional love that our Father has for us. I thought about the ultimate sacrifice that He made for us by sending His son to come to this earth to die so that we may be free. I want to live my life striving to be more and more like Jesus. Waiting for two and a half hours was nothing in comparison to the sacrifice and suffering Jesus experienced.
I knew this was important to David and his family, and it was also important to me. I am so thankful that God spoke to me that day so that I could experience sacrifice. Love takes sacrifice. Call on Jesus in times of troubles and He will reveal himself to you and show you the way to go.
Blessings to you all,
Dani Finn
